And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. — Ephesians 3:19

I will never forget some of the classes that I had to take in college. Some of them were extremely challenging, and I certainly did not take the most difficult ones. Classes like calculus, algebra, geometry, and statistics. These classes can be some of the most difficult classes that someone can take. You may find the classes easy, but for me, I had to work at them!

I’ll never forget in one of those classes, I was struggling to understand a concept. I had all the information in front of me. The complexity seemed to be doable. The teacher and many of my classmates had already proven that. To me, it was almost like trying to know something that was impossible to know.

That’s certainly the mindset that Paul seems to share here. He starts off by saying to know the love of Christ. To know the amazing and redeeming love that Jesus had for us. So much love that He came to this world and gave His life for us. What an amazing love that it is.

Then Paul continues by saying that the love of Christ passes knowledge. In other words, it’s impossible to understand the love of Christ. It is impossible to understand the full meaning and full depth of that love. He is saying it is to know the unknowable.

While the full understanding of God’s love may be impossible to understand, we can know and understand a part. God has given us the ability to understand the need for a Savior, the burden of our sins, and the redemption found in Jesus. The real question is, do you know? If you do, praise Him today for His amazing love. If not, today would be a great day to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
