I’ve found fasting to be incredibly beneficial to my spiritual and prayer life. Even just holding back on eating more food during meals is a fast. Check out the link to read more

Christ is King!
I've been intermittent fasting for the past couple years and done some short fasts, 4-5 days. I tried to do a longer one last week and got very ill on the 7th day. I took electrolytes and more water bur couldn't feel better so I had a cup of broth. Day 8, still sick: nauseous, headache, unbelievable leg pain, weakness, still taking electrolytes. So I ate a tiny meal, about a cup of food. Became violently ill. Projectile vomiting and diarrhea. On going leg pain etc. What a great day! That night I took Ivermectin but no noticeable improvement. Day 9, felt like crap and decided whatever was wrong, I wasn't fixing it and I needed a new plan. I ate a micro carnivore meal of about 300 calories. I did the same thing on day 10, 11 and 12. I don't feel great, but I'm not well. I've lost 17 pounds this fast and 10 on my January fast. My question to you brilliant bastards: what do you think happened to me? There can't be that much difference between a 5 day fast and 7, can there? Was it a toxin dump? Not enough potassium? Which seems ridiculous because I was taking electrolytes and you are supposed to be able to fast on water only with no supplements. I'm super disappointed because I was trying for a full 40 day Lenten fast, knowing full well I might have to break it up into many smaller fast, but I was okay with that. I know I can still lose weight on OMAD carnivore or ketovore but I really wanted to heal some things.
I honestly thought the broth would perk me up and I'd be fine by morning. On day 8 I had a cup of tea and scrambled eggs. I have real salt for just licking when I need it and then a powdered mix (no sugar, no artificial sweetener) of everyday essentials. Similar to an EmergenC but made by Vitacost. Those give you 200 mg Potassium, 225 mg sodium and a bunch of vit and trace minerals. I take 200 mg Magnesium too. I was at home for most of the day so I would down a glass of filtered water every time I was thirsty. The only other weird thing was that on the morning of day 7 I had done a bit of gardening. I planted a blueberry bush, which involved moving a couple bags of dirt and mulch, but really, it was nothing.
What electrolyte powder did you end up with? Maybe because I'm older (62) I need a better balanced drink?
I did wonder about eggs. I know I can't eat the cheap ones with the pale yellow yolks but I had good eggs. You're right, I probably should have just gone with fat. I may go have some blood work done just rule out anything I can't detect myself, but to be honest, the thought of going to any healthcare professional is not appealing. Interesting note: I've had a eustachian tube disturbance since last June when I had covid. My ears were full of fluid and drained all the time and were itchy and scabby like a fungal infection. All the usual things didn't kill it but by day 5 it was clear and I could hear properly again. So that's a win!
