What would happen if there was a internet blackout?
🗣️ DISCUSSION 💬
I know the obvious answers.. we would have no internet, ha.. but it really seems to be picking up.

What else would this affect?
Starlink wouldn't be affected, right?
I've got my Starlink going live in the next couple weeks. I'll ping you if we get 10 days of darnkess.
Seriously, I got it not because I can't get terrestrial internet access, but because Starlink is an ISP. They are unaffected by fiber cuts, regional blackouts, etc. because they are directly connected at the major network access points. In theory, if large swaths of th Internet go dark, I would still have interconnectivity with any site that has direct peering with a NAP. Though NAPs are an archaic term, there are now many more known as IXPs or Internet Exchange Point, which an ISP would have direct peering with.

Your connection to their satellite might go uninterrupted, but if the OP question about 'no internet' occured then starlink would also go down as taking down the entire net would require collapsing the NAPs
Correct, with the exception of any site with direct peering to a NAP/IXP. GAW would go down. The banks would probably still be a direct connect. Hard to tell until it happens. If the NAP/IXPs go down, then Starlink would be likely worthless, unless they have some content or information to be published from their ground stations.
