I can honestly say, NO, larger companies will not break up into smaller 49-truck companies. Look at Ryder, Lease trucks/trailer. know how many commercial trucks that company owns alone ? 240,600 commercial trucks, lol, separate that company alone into a 49-truck company.. off the top of my head its 4,900 and change.. That's just one company..
There will be strict guidelines them companies will have to adhere to. More likely have to pay a large tax on x-amount of trucks they allow into Cali. and once again, Cali will kill out a lot of the smaller trucking companies, as they did back in the day when the Clean Air/DEF/DPF crap came out..
I don't see how the truck industry can be all electric IMO. Driving a OTR truck that's elec, sounds cool, to some, but.. How about when you sit in a doc for 8-10hrs cause the warehouse you're p/u from shut down from a broken assembly line. Loads not ready, forklift guys didn't show up etc.. God forbid you have to p/u from Budweiser.. IF you drive a truck, you know what I mean, beer loads can/will suck the day out from ya.
Drive your spiffy Elec truck, make a 500mi delivery, ok, sounds good. you've got what 200, or so, miles left.. Dispatch calls, needs you to head down to Houston, TX, 230mi away, snag a load from Exxon and get it to Cali in 2-days.. GOOD LUCK.. I don't see them lasting long.. OR... a crap-ton of LATE loads, empty shelves...
Sry for the rant, I just shut down for the night and my brain is still going 100 miles an hour..
-Be safe..
