Wife still in hospital. CTs, MRI, EKG, US all negative for any clots or embolisms. Doctors still aren’t sure what’s causing it- best working guess so far is POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) which is an excessively reduced amount of blood returning to the heart when moving from laying to sitting to standing. BP and heart rate still spiking anytime she has to get up. Pumping fluids and electrolytes and looking into starting a beta blocker until her OBGYN can assess hormone levels. Heart monitor hooked up for next cpl weeks. Home/bed rest until then. Not a whole lot of info or treatment for it so we just have to wait and see for now. This is EXACTLY what happened to me this past year. I was lucky to find a naturopath doctor who knew what to look for and was honest. I've been having terrible issues with POTS, rapid heart rate, lightheadedness, fatigue, etc. I too have been supplementing b12, folate, iron, intrinsic factor, zinc, etc . . .
I'm still not 100%. For the past year it has felt like two steps forward, one step back. Its a slow process of recovering.
I think what brought on this terrible condition in me is stress. My work environment since C19 has been extremely stressful. During the lockdowns my digestion was shutting down on me. I would get terrible acid reflux, indigestion, constipation, etc. I think this prevented my body from digesting and processing my nutrients properly, which led to my anemia. My doctor said that not only was I low on my red blood cells, but that many of my blood cells were also elongated and not healthy.
Thankfully I am moving to a new state this summer, and will have way less stress to deal with.
All of this 100 percent. I've been struggling with similar symptoms for years now, with doctors having no idea what's going on and seeing all sorts of Western medicine specialists with no improvement. Most of my labs tested normal, but my integrative medicine doctor told me to try the carnivore diet, and within 30 days, my symptoms improved greatly. It was odd eating mostly red meat, given that I've tried to balance my diet with vegetables and everything Western medicine tells me is good for me. I'm not fat, no medical issues otherwise. My sister was diagnosed with POTS over a decade ago, but we didn't think of that for me until very recently. Still, I firmly believe that stress and your gut biome getting seriously off kilter is what causes this, and it's a slow road getting things back in shape. Months, maybe even years. I haven't even been able to tolerate probiotics, we're trying to slow adjust my gut bacteria back to normal when my symptoms improve. Myself and even some of my Western medicine doctors all believe it's poison in our food. It takes our gut years to get out of whack, so it's going to take time to get it back into shape. I've had ER visits, been to heart and nerve specialists, gasto specialists, you name it. When your gut gets seriously out of balance, it can manifest as all sorts of odd and auto immune conditions. Don't accept it. Fight for your health. I believe that much of this is curable but it isn't a one pill solution, it's a long term modification to get things back into shape. Good luck and prayers to all of you.
