In the movie end game, Dr. Strange tells Iron man there is 1 only 1 basically way to win and defeat Thanos.
In the previous movie Thanos had wiped out like 50% I think of the world , making them just poof.. disappear, not die. So, with some doing in bed game they come back together ( avemgers) and of course make it happen.
In the End ... Thanos, of course thinks he's won, only to realize he didn't. Iron man ( Tony stark) says.. I am Iron Man snaps fingers.... poof.... it's over. Humanity won! Iron Man died, but he saved Humanity! Hmmm
