Can you take NAC when breastfeeding, anyone know?

It's recommended to take during pregnancy to protect the child and prevent a miscarriage, so I doubt there's a problem taking it while breastfeeding.

As OP said most online resources won't commit to a definitive answer but I couldn't find any that recommend against it. This website actually answers several pregnancy-related questions directly, and says NAC is safe while breastfeeding:

neither NIH or WebMD are willing to commit to a definitive answer ("ask your doctor") but this site livestrong says "usually safe (ask your doctor)"
