NATO would like to annoy Russia in the Baltic and possibly try to blockade Kaliningrad ( That would be a suicidal move in itself)

The main game is the Greenland Gap (Between Greenland and Britain) where NATO tries to monitor Russian fleet elements moving out into the Atlantic.

One of the Great Games of the Cold War.

This is why Biden so desperately want Sweden to join, the swamp needs access to the island of Gotland perfectly located in the middle of the Baltic sea between Russia and Kaliningrad, which is strategically important to Russia.
