Special counsel Jack Smith received his Twitter/Trump subpoena with the added provision that it had to be entirely secret, not even Twitter or Trump could know. US District Court Judge Beryll Howell gave Smith what he wanted, agreeing that if Trump’s years-old Twitter past was known, he would become a flight risk. But both Smith and Howell knew this was absolute nonsense.
Of course they knew it was nonsense that he would be a flight risk over the Twitter subpoena. So why keep it a secret?
How could Twitter NOT know? They'd have to give the idiots access at least - I thought I read an article about Musk fighting this? Anyone else read it?
Twitter knew. The search warrant was being served on Twitter. What Twitter wanted was the ability to notify the customer aka Trump.
The law allows for a delayed notification. Twitter was making the argument that executive privilege may apply here.
In this case I believe they asked for 180 days and then another 180 days.
I've seen a case involving national security where Apple notified the customer 5 years later

You are correct. I forgot about that. He turned them over 3 days after deadline and got fined $350,000.

Wow, imagine charging the FBI $100,000 a day for the documents they don't turn over.
Good point
Thanks for the link 🙂
You're welcome 🐸
