EMERGE, verb (Latin emergo) - "to rise out of a fluid".

Rising (life) out of a fluid (inception towards death) implies periodic existence. Life represents "emergency period"...

additional powers

Power of velocity (inception towards death) adds power of resistance (life). Choosing to resist velocity grows resistance...others tempt one to ignore resisting.
