Many years ago my Canadian friends bragged they had free health care. I reminded them that its not free, they pay for it in their exorbitant taxes. I also reminded them that its government run so doctors comply with govt not your health care needs. Back then it was well known elite Canadians came to US when they needed certain procedures.

I know of 2 cases where paramedics were called. First question was not whats your emergency or your location.... the 1st question was how old is the patient. If over 70 they dont show up. In 1 case because after 2 calls medics didnt show children took patient to ER themselves. Patient died, was taken to funeral home. 5 hours later medics knock on the door and got an earful from the sobbing children.

Just recently a friend who just returned from Canada tells me she experienced the same bragging thing, Nothing changed for the better and it seems Canadians still have no clue about their personal health care.
