What does work is getting ready. Food stores, ammo, prep your guns, make sure you have what you need for you soas not to burden others. Surplus can help others. Communication tools other than your phone. Walkie-talkie, CB radio, shortwave, etc. If/when Friday happens, coordinate with those you know are on your side. If you are in a red state, and SHTF, doesn't hurt to coordinate with local and county cops if they are good. A lot of them are.
A lot will deputize if they are pressed. This is where some may hurt but local community involvement can create leadership possibilities, community patrols etc.
Proactive comms with the family is important too.
