For the price of a good drone plus extra batteries, It would be cheaper to get your elder dog a younger companion..

You'll also have it immediately ready if/when needed...

If still wanting one I'd go with a DJI even though like probably all the others are made in china.

They are indeed fun and can take some excellent vids & photos.

A drone isn't a round-the-clock solution. You'd be better off with a wireless motion detection camera

They are good for that.

But as mentioned you'll want a minimum of 3-4 batteries to keep the fun going as they take a while to charge.
