Interestingly, I drove past a Ford dealer today and noticed they had put all their F150 Lightnings and Mach-e’s out near the road promoting them. It wasn’t an insignificant number. No one wants them.
I find the idea of them interesting (technology and power), but the batteries hold them back. The mining is highly destructive to the land and they are mined with child labor. Additionally, who would trust a battery in an ev that was more than 5 to 8 years old? Meaning used EV’s will be near worthless; making them, essentially, disposable cars.
I thought something like a locomotive might be nice - diesel generators (gasoline in the case of a car) and electric traction motors. Oh yeah, that's a hybrid, and also bad for climate change I guess.

Reality is a cruel mistress.

I have wondered similar idea, how big of an engine to drive electric motor, seems there would be alot of options
The only reason i can guess they aren’t reality is patent infringement
You have all kinds of locomotive manufacturers using the same idea.
