So sad to hear. And during the holidays too. I pray all the people are okay.
Yeah. Very sad.
My father, both grandfathers, my paternal great-grandfather and 2 of my fathers brothers were all railroad men. They worked on the old L&N railroad before CSX took it over. They would all be mad as 'hell' to know that the government are using trains to kill off a population of people.
It looks that way but we cannot be sure. I don't want to sound like tin-foil hat on top of brain-dead. LOL
LOL. With Beshear in charge he would probably make them dump the rest of the chemicals.
Oh yeah, I am sure.
He's an idiot. I'll be so happy to be rid of him. His family lived in Dawson Springs which is about 20/25 miles from me.
Oh so you know him?
My grandfather was a railroad man in Buffalo. Wish I was old enough when he was alive to ask questions. He and his brother rode the rails during the depression out west and were cowboys.
My father started working on the railroad as the 'water boy' and errand boy when his grandfather was still working on it. Later, after having served in the Army, he got out and became a laborer/rail layer replacer of rails and old cross ties. Then when I was about 11 years old, he became a Foreman, had his own truck and crew. I got to watch him and his crew drive the truck upon the rails and lower the wheels on it to drive down the rails. My father also got to ride on a caboose several times. I miss those old cabooses.
I also remember when I was about 4 years old there was a bad train wreck down around New Orleans. It was a 2 train collision. They called crews from everywhere they could find them to help clean up the wreckage. My father and his 2 older brothers went and stayed about 2 weeks. I remember how happy my Mother was when he returned home.
Awesome that you have some of the stories. We had a few things after he passed away. No idea what happened to them. Had a lantern with blue glass lenses. A watch. No idea what dad did with them. Thanks for sharing!!!
You're welcome. Your father must have been one great man. God bless him.
