This reminds me of a church me and my family went to two years ago, the name of the ministry is Mega Praise Ministries by Pastor Manuel Johnson.
During one of his sermons we went to at night, he was speaking about where this one kid who once stepped on a bible in church and stretched his hands towards the congregation and claimed everyone in the room was healed of whatever they had.
Essentially he took off his shoes and got a bible where he did the same thing the kid he spoke about did, to me this wasn't right at all.
Spiritually it didn't feel right also, because when you trample over The Word of God physically like that's really one of the most disrespectful things to do such as stepping on His Word like that.
My mom even agreed that wasn't right, so a little after we stopped listening and attending his events. How we started going there initially, it's a rather long story.
I am very cautious and careful myself of I who listen to, especially when it comes to churches themselves but of course no church is perfect but only God Himself.
There's only a select number of churches and pastors in America who truly speak and truly believe in The Word of God, even then they'll still support certain things worldly or whatever else that are definitely wrong to like.
When the 2020 Plandemic first began and those George Floyd riots happened months later, this one mega church my family has been going to for decades decided to publicly support BLM immediately after Floyd's death.
That's when I literally stopped attending there and listening to their sermons, but my family who were hesitant to change their minds on that issue.
It was my own mother who really was the main one vocally in support but actually ignorant of such things until I showed her evidence about the truth of these things, the pastor who showed his support for them I was already suspicious of him prior to 2020.
Since he typically and regularly made vague but very obvious anti-Trump statements occasionally for no reason, especially when he's supposed to be delivering a sermon about The Gospel rather.
But the negative things he just had to say about Trump, they seemed to matter more to him than what's expected to be done.
It was either regarding his Twitter posts or something else petty entirely, it literally reminded me of those seething leftists you would normally see on social media

It's sounds like you and your family have a certain amount of sensibly and sensitivity that so many church goers lack.
