Lived here for just shy of 60 years. Born on the Galveston Island, near Texas. Beside Texas A&M University, there are a couple of fab shops, some apartments(mostly students), and G&H towing, a Barge towing company, and seawall park. Tourist attraction. Nothing nefarious about this at all. Purely accidental. The bridge was already set to be tore down and replaced in 2025. As for the rail track, hasn't been in service in decades. Most of this small island is inhabited by wild pigs mostly. Some snakes. And a ton of trees used by local birds. As one poster said, this is a nothingburger. Last time I was out there,(FIL worked for G&H) there are no permanent residence there. Besides the pigs and birds. G&H was already planning for the bridge outage by having employees park/work out of Houston. The facility on Pelican Island is a repair facility and will be accessed by tow boats.
