But the Pharisees seem closer to orthodox Jews, while the "non religious" Jews are very similar to the Sadducees.

The Sadducees, who believed virtually non of the Law and the Prophets, were also typically very wealthy and held the significant majority of positions of power and status. A lot like the billionaire Zionists of today.

It might be that you hear more about the Pharisees than the Sadducees in the Bible because they had much more support of the people.
