I'm an 8 year veteran with a degree (I tell all not to make this mistake) and my wife as well. We can't find work since being part of a lay off last September. We have applied to over 100 companies and denied before interview on all but two. I was stood up for an interview twice by the same company and then denied when I applied again.
These are the things against us: White, Christian, Patriots, Unvaxxed.
There are many in worse positions than we are but would really be thankful for prayers on our behalf. Thank you all very much and God bless you!
Will pray for you!!
There are a ton of companies who prefer to hire vets. They know they have work ethic. It’s frustrating trying to interview on indeed or other sites. I helped my cousin with his resume, it was too wordy. Tie in your strengths, make the resume extremely simple, make sure you put your veteran status. I would also suggest getting a headhunter or going to a temp agency. I know there was a big movement over Covid with new companies coming out for unvaxed etc. Not sure what field yall are in? Here’s one I remember seeing…

Out of curiosity… what do you mean when you say you tell people not to make this mistake?
I believe he means don't bother getting a degree
