The Earth is a bit like a capacitor from what I have learned. Everything in creation is electromagnetically reactive to varying degrees. If balance is the key as Miyagi stated, then maybe this is a way of balancing one's body electromagnet field with the Earth in some way. As for the effect on plant life... it has been demonstrated recently quite a few times. With all the man made electromagnetic crap being broadcast at every frequency and range these days, it should not be surprising that some folks have issues due to imbalances.

Atoms comprise literally everything. What’s an atom? Protons electrons and neutrons in constant motion.

Thoughts in the brain? I electrical impulses. Electric impulses control all of our body.

Of course strong mag forces affect the human body, animals and plants. Living near high voltage power transmission lines has been proven to cause cancers. And so many other negative side effects.
