This could have been verified by collecting DNA from a search warrant on his house with his personal belongings, toothbrush, pillow, etc. then sent to the Quantico lab where it was tested immediately by their staff.
But I also don’t trust the FBI. I believe they wiped his history off the internet.

They could check DMV database.
He brought a gun to the location. They could track who the gun was sold to.
