It's worth getting the license to learn all that it can do. ARRL training is thorough and the knowledge is good to have.

It depends on what frequency you want to talk on...you can use a wire about 15' off the ground to talk on HF u/photobuf

It is indeed and there are practice tests online that make it easier to test. Our son got his Technicians License when he was 10.

You also learn protocol and etiquette for on the air and people are more helpful when you're not stepping all over them and ticking them off. 😸
