I wonder if the time the “oh dear the screen was locked, I better call tech support” computer sat there, was a program running on the machine, cataloging and searching for certain things.
While these machines were “down”, they were all connected to the internet. Any activity would be hidden to the operators, the only way they would know is if they were watching network activity. Data could even be stored to be sent at a later date.
It would be a great time to target specific computers to get info and send it to WH servers.
I wonder.
Thought I'd follow up with some new info.
Apparently, there was an issue with Microsoft Azure Cloud a few hours before the Crowdstrike bug.
They might have been wiping the assassination coordination evidence before releasing the Crowdstrike bug for plausible deniability.
There would be no point in all the theatrics. EDR software like this already has complete control over a machine. It already scans everything and monitors every event performed on a machine, including what is typed. This is no different from other software vendors.
The machines were boot looping. There was no access to the Internet without Windows being loaded.
If anything, this forced Crowdstrike update could have wiped the evidence of an intrusion.
