My kid actually loves the 50s Casper. Though it's a lot more violent than i was expecting. I'm guessing that's just how all (if not most) 50s cartoons were though, huh?
Edit: we do still let him watch Casper, even though it does have cartoon violence. He's smart enough to know cartoon violence isn't real.
This is why i only show my kid 90's cartoons. Looking through his credits on imdb, I don't believe any of his shows/movies ever aired in my household.
The early 70s was the end of good cartoons. I used to watch Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, and Casper on Saturdays.

If you want real cartoon violence, watch the Roadrunner cartoons. If you can find the originals. Any that are shown on TV now are edited.
I only let my kids watch The Simpsons. I judged the rest to be too violent and The Simpsons episodes always had a moral to the story.
