If Jesus came back and ruled for 1000 years, you'd know it. It's a child-like argument. The Satan and his demons being locked up for 1000 years and Jesus's rule for 1000 years coincides with each other.

Here is the short version the churches today do not teach but the early churches understood:

1. Jesus will return and all will know it. First, the dead believers will be raised first then the believers still alive will be brought up to meet Christ in the sky and we go home together.
2. At that time the brilliance of Jesus' glory will wipe out the life of the unrepentant on earth- meaning everyone left on earth is dead.
3. All believers past and present are in Heaven for 1000 years learning the real truth about God, his Son and their plan. We investigate, ask questions and learn. We also reconcile with each other at the tree in the garden of heaven that heals all nations.
4. Earth- all souls are dead. Satan and his demons are locked on earth with the torment of having no one to deceive for 1000 years. At the end of the 1000 years, Jesus comes back with all of his people and the inhabitants of heaven inside the new Jerusalem that comes from heaven the earth. The earthly Jerusalem was a symbol. It has no purpose in the end time events. Also, the heavenly city of Jerusalem is so large and massive because it was designed to hold ALL THE PEOPLE WHO EVER LIVED. He had a place for every human ever born.(or conceived) let that sink in...
5. Upon arrival of the Great City, all the dead are raised. Satan and his demons plan with the newly raised dead to mount a war against Jesus and his people.
6. Jesus shows himself. All men are given understanding of the truth about him. They do not attack as Satan had wanted. They bow to Christ and acknowledge him for who he is in truth. Beecause Jesus came for ALL men, he loves them ALL - REGARDELSS of how evil they may be. All men are judged and their punishment is handed out by fire according to their deeds. Many will burn up quickly and perish. Others will have much more torment. But in the end all will perish and their smoke rises for eternity as a symbol of their lives but their lives are OVER. 7.the Father's nature would not allow those he loves so dearly to be punished forever. For those if us with family and friends who refused to belive, this should be comforting.
7. All of the inhabitants inside the new Jerusalem are witnesses to all that has happened but not the punishment for our own sakes.
8. Jesus destroys the old earth and builds a new earth. For all of eternity, we are free. Free to travel to Heaven and The New Earth as we wish. Free to live our lives without sin to interrupt our relationship with the Father and his Son.
9. Final thought to ponder- Jesus was with the Father long before the universe was created. He was God's only begotten son. Because of this, we was like God. As your children are like you. He was not a man. He voluntarily laid his life in Heaven down and became a man. He became one of his creation in order to save them from the grip of sin on the world. Jesus is still his Fathers Son but today and forevermore, he is and will be a man. That is how much he loves us. That is my King!
