For a lot of people, they are in financial difficulty because of their choices. But the economy is most certainly not fine.
The state of MN has more people signed up (via their employers) to the Shared Work program than ever before. This is used to help employees offset the wage loss when they are working reduced hours--in other words, more than ever before, companies all across the state of MN are working reduced hours.
There have been layoffs everywhere. Anyone trying to tell you the economy is fine is either a liar, or blind and ignorant.
Yeah labor stats showing average number of hours worked weekly is down, but also lost full time jobs and gained part time jobs. Iirc it's down from a norm of ~36.5hrs to ~34hrs.
In context that's equivalent to a ~6% rise in unemployment, but as this isn't isolated to a few but generalized, it's equivalent to ~$3,200 per worker or ~1/2 a trillion dollars lost from the pockets of American workers.
I'm no financial expert, I just read the reports. Anyone saying the economy is doing well is either repeating the narrative or so unbelievably ignorant they talking when they can't interpret data.
