John recorded these tracks a few years ago, frustrated as we all are with this world. They seem so relevant now as this thing gets RED HOT . . .

Thanks for that , I really enjoyed it !
John is a based MF-er, and always has been. I heard these a few years ago when he first put them out. I just wish he'd somehow get a full album out, but as always, it'll be on "Sykes Time". Huge guitar influence of mine.
Check out Whitesnake- Rio 1984. Sykes' Crying in the Rain solo. Oh man... (just ignore Coverdale's horrid singing on that day)
Rock in Rio , that was a great show. Thanks for the shout out, John is definately a huge influence on me as well. Love that slow sultry vibrato and the Blue Murder stuff where he blew me away with the vocals. Definately put up a new bar and challenge for sure. Got to see him live up close and it was a stunning performance. I try to sneak in a few of his songs into my own shows, everbody always loves his work. Bless you man, great to meet other based musicians. I'm currently modding my own Marshall to the Jose' master specs that John uses. I think Vai sold him one and he used that on the Blue Murder stuff along with Mesa rigs.
I've slimmed down from my larger Triple Rec rig (sold it) to an old Marshall Class 5 with two of the matching 10" cabs, and a TS808 (original!) for some tube torture when I need it. I no longer play in bands, but still write here and there, so I don't need a huge rig anymore. Plus, I'm enjoying the more natural, raw, and nasty class A amp sound. Got a bit inspired by Bill Steer (Carcass) and his tone on his Firebird recordings (check out their Deluxe album- a 50s Les Paul Jr straight through a Marshall Plexi). Who knows. Maybe I'll get the bug to play out again. Thanks for the story and God bless you as well.
