I have a friend who is a horse. We would like to give him ivermectin bc he's not been eating his hay, and stamped his horse knuckles on the ground 3 times which we taught him means, "I don't feel good." In researching, we've read he can take it either as a paste, or a pill. What is the best and most efficacious way to help our four legged friend?

I give my horse the paste and just grab them from tractor supply store. I give 1 notch per 50lbs of body weight ~ 1 time per week with yogurt. My horses love yogurt.
Who woulda thought horses like yogurt. What a great way to get it's medicine down. Does he make extra horse paddies when you feed it to him? I just want my shovel handy if needed.
Liquid, injectable Ivermectin, taken orally.
The mammal dose (including human animals) is 200 micrograms per kilograms of body weight.
This equates to .10 ml (1/10 ml) per 10 lbs of body weight.
A 200lb horse would take 2ml of the liquid on something fatty, such as cottage cheese. It’s more bioavailabe in alcohol, so if the horse has a few drops of vodka to mix with it, they will get a better dose.
Allegedly, if it is taken with food, especially a meal with some fat content, it is better absorbed.
So a horse who is taking it for intestinal parasites might want to take it on an empty stomach, but a horse taking it for viruses or blood parasites, might want to take it with a meal.
Get the apple
There is a topical.paste also.
