This is an interesting analysis, but I would like to point out a MAJOR difference between ancient Rome / Julius Caesar and modern-day America.
Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon and turned Rome from a Republic to an Empire, and it remained an Empire until its final days, both in Rome and Constantinople (the eastern empire).
America has been an Empire since about the Spanish-American War until very recently. The modern populist movement (Trump, RFK, et al.) seems to be more about dismantling the Empire and returning America to its Republic roots. I would be more than happy to see this happen... so much of our blood and treasure has been spent in foreign entanglements and we simply cannot sustain that bleeding any more.
Returning America to its Republic foundations is probably the most noble task any of us could engage in. I voted on Friday, for Trump of course, in hopes that we can once again become a Republic, one nation under God, and that we give up our empirical ways.
It's bigger then America unfortunately being the bastion of freedom comes at a great cost and responsibility. God speed to the souls who fight for it worldwide
