Serotonin is involved in numerous physiological processes,[29] including sleep,[30]...wikipedia.
It could be a statement about downsizing and "asking" the remaining workers to "pull together", "we are all family" (except the guy we fired), and get all the work completed.
The "surplused" employee's work did not disappear, it is put on the rest of the work group and "corporate" expects the remainder to perform at the same level (or higher) with fewer people.
The "quiet quitting" movement is about doing my end of the 'deal' that I made with HR when I hired on....I work 45hrs a week, you pay me Y. I am now being asked to work 65 hrs a week for that same Y pay. Quiet quitting is simply a boundries issue with an abusive work environment. If corporate wants 65hrs work, there needs to be a renegotiation of the pay. The company I work for will not allow a customer to get more hours of service then is paid for, so I respect that position, I do my best to not work more than my 45 hrs.
Yeah, but in capitalism you're in competition with the work place. Prove your worth and fight for your value or go find another job. Or, start a business like a creative human.
"Prove your worth and fight for your value...". I think this is the thing that is different today. The reward to the employee for proving their value never materializes.
Then you leave. Enough people leave and the demand for workers goes up. To get workers, incentive goes up. Incentive is wages. Or start a business and name your own price.
Exactly my advice to my kids. I have a hook in me via a significant lump sum pension. My kids will not, and, have the counsel to be aware of the game and move on to the next job, better title, and pay increase quickly.
