Then it will usher in a mass surveillance state that we will allow because they are going after "bad guys."
Let's not be complicit in their plans just because we want to be protected from bad actors. Surveillance, cameras, drones tapping into phones makes society safer but just because white hats are behind it doesn't make it right.
White hat surveillance state is an oxymoron.
I think there has to be a drone-identity type law where if there is no traceable ident and owner, then its an asset that anyone (not just military or law enforcement) is empowered to open fire upon, bring them down, and claim ownership of and utilize the wreckage for profit in any way that the shooter wants to. Like hunting.
That's going to shut the door on this problem of fake fog-of-war plausible deniability real quick.
FAA as of 2023: The following must comply with remote ID regulations: Unmanned aircraft that require registration All aircraft under 55 lbs operated under part 107 All aircraft over 25 grams and under 55 lbs operated recreationally Unmanned aircraft operated for safety purposes
What I wanna know is how is average Joe Shotgun supposed to receive the radio ID transponder signal and know the 50 lb gorilla drone hovering over his house is OK?
Bigger drones require an FAA exception for a very specific flight space. But once again, how does average Joe know that unless someone notifies him?
The transponders are supposed to be readable with a free phone app from the FAA
