Help me Pedes! My father just had a quintuple bypass. They are trying to convince us to get whole donor blood. They cannot say if the blood contains the ouchie or not. I have no ammo. I haven’t discussed the vax much lately. Any advice or links welcome.

My brother is a match for blood type and says he can be here in 30 minutes. They tried telling me they don’t do that. I told them they could do it 100 years ago, on a battlefield, I’m certain a wonderful facility like this could do a great job at it. The nurse actually piped in to say that we are not on a battlefield, and there is a process. I said great! It sounds like you are more than qualified to give him blood from a trusted donor. The nurse then turned victim and said I don’t have to be mean.

Yea, yea, I know, Red Cross, but I think this procedure may apply in your situation:

A patient must have his/her physician submit a Red Cross Special Collections Order form for the Red Cross to collect blood from the selected donors. Once a completed, signed form is received, a specialized scheduling team will contact the donors to arrange appointments at designated collection centers and shipment to participating transfusion services.
