Here's the way I see it. This guy has been fired. Okay, great. Where are the criminal charges?
No, seriously, why isn't this guy in jail?
He seized fentanyl, charged the guy with a crime for possessing it, then stole evidence, falsified a police report, illegally destroyed evidence (you know, by ingesting it), and OD'd in a bathroom causing an emergency response and a massive waste of taxpayer resources as a result.
So why hasn't he been charged with a crime? I can't find anything about it, and Grok hasn't been able to find anything either. So what's up?
There's at least a few charges I can think of. Possession, of course, since he stole evidence and was improperly possessing it outside of his official duties. Stealing evidence, that's definitely a crime too. Illegally destroying evidence, also definitely a crime. Knowingly filing a false police report? I mean that's definitely gotta be illegal... right? And then ODing in a public bathroom? I mean... causing a public disturbance or something at the least here.
Why is there such a culture of acting like police officers deserve such coddling and mere slaps on the wrist for the same things they take a paycheck to destroy people's lives for? They should know better. If anything, they should get more severe punishments than some random homeless guy who ODs on fent in a bathroom.
I've always been outspoken about being anti-drug war, but this utter hypocrisy disgusts me even more.
I agree, the double standard is getting really old.
That officer committed multiple felonies and several misdemeanors. He should be arrested and charged just like I would be.
I cannot imagine the amount of time I would spend locked up if I got caught stealing drugs from a police evidence room and then tried to change the paperwork to cover the crime.
