Article says”Colorado state law already limits interaction and information sharing between local and federal officers. However, SB 276 extends this measure to prohibit the state judicial and legislative branches, along with local governments, from sharing personal immigration-related data with federal officials. The bill also denies federal immigration officials access to certain areas of places such as childcare facilities, hospitals, and schools, unless a warrant is provided.🤬
Local governments cannot work with ICE to detain an individual facing civil immigration proceedings, and any information on an enrolled child or a patient cannot be shared with federal officers, among other restrictions.😤
Despite the bills extensive restrictions for local and state officials, Gov. Polis reiterates the importance of cooperation with federal agents on criminal matters in his signing statement for the bill.
“Our state and local law enforcement cooperate with federal authorities in identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting criminals, regardless of their immigration status,” writes Polis.
However, Polis later goes on to say that under SB 276 “state and local law enforcement cannot be commandeered to enforce federal civil immigration laws and taken away from fighting crime.”🤯
Violators of certain parts of the new law could face a $50,000 fine, with the money going to the Immigration Defense Fund, which provides free legal services to those detained in Colorado with their immigration court proceedings.😡🤯🤬
SB 276 also prevents jails from delaying the release of an individual upon request of a federal immigration official and allows the Governor to deny entry into Colorado to another state’s National Guard troops for immigration enforcement unless “the military force from another state is acting on federal orders and acting as a part of the United States armed forces.”
😡Previous Colorado law required any undocumented student or any individual seeking in-state tuition, or a state ID must prove first that they have applied, or plan to apply, for lawful status. SB 276 removes this requirement.”
I went through forced integration which was against state laws. The Confederacy went through a war for States Rights and lost. Not sure if a state can go against any Federal law.
The Confederacy went to war too early. They just rabble roused about slavery and laws that the northern states carried about helping slaves become freemen and the federal government covering for those laws.
They took this rabble rousing to the point that a whole-cloth new political party formed in opposition to the South, the Republicans, who swore that they would end slavery, which was so popular that the North by itself and it's population, voted Lincoln in without a single electoral vote south of the MasonDixon.
Had they spent the 25+ years before the civil war sueing the government for its overreach, we may have not had the second biggest grant of power to the federal government at the end of the civil war.
Slavery was a big issue but the Southern states argued that THEIR rights to set laws outweighed the Federal government. It was a States Rights issue---States were supposed to an entity to themselves. It didn't matter if the States were right or wrong---the Federal Government took control of all the States after the Civil War. The Southern states did argue for their rights a LONG time before they left the Union. The Civil War is where the Federal government became the King over the states. I am not arguing FOR slavery. That was wrong. But the Northern States textile industries that bought all the cotton from the south got tired of being strong armed by the south having a monopoly over their main source of income. It was all GREED---form BOTH sides---but the Fed. is the one that came out on top.
Here is a good read.

Like I said, there were states rights issues, but it was the decades of agitation against federal cover for northern state's laws that was the real main factor. It was the divisive issue used to divide, conquer, and advance globalism (like abortion and lgbtqrstuv is today).
You’d think since they love them so much they’d fast track their legalization process for each of them and have some program set up for it. But they don’t. What is it about being an illegal alien is so important to certain states??
Illegals are counted in the census, inflating the population of the state, and thereby giving them more seats in the house. There was a post the other day claiming that red states would have something like 27 more seats if illegals weren't counted.
Also they are used as slaves basically for cheap labor and then democrats are paid off for getting them by their support.
Tax payers pay for it i. The end because we pay for their education, healthcare, food, everything. They cost Colorado tons of money because they get everything free. Tax payers suffer for bad healthcare, bad built houses, criminal behavior, bad education, etc, etc, because of them.
I think this Governor and his ilk below him are criminals for more than this. Free Tina Peters! Prison for Jenna Griswald!

I pray this goes very badly for this Governor.
Ice should arrest them anyways.
They can try their luck in court.
Colorado can sign all the bills they want! Federal Law trumps state law!
On immigration, yes. But this is one of the few places where national law supercedes state law.
Most of the federal government and it's rules and regulations are repugnant to the limited federalism enshrined in the constitution.

Yep, the Federal Government was formed to unite the independent colonies and wound up ruling them. Always be careful what you wish for!
