I will admit that I don't know a great deal about ultra-Orthodox Jewish beliefs; however, having said that, I seem to recall that the Old Testament shows that ancient Israel was a military power, had a standing army, and that people like Nathan, Joshua, and Saul were military leaders. So why are ultra-Orthodox Jews opposed military service?
