...Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends...

...Thru the Bible with Dr. J. Vernon McGee Haggai 1:2-8...

“Where are you headed? What are your goals in life?” These are some of the important questions we’ll ponder as the prophet, Haggai, reminds the people to work hard, avoid laziness, and obey God’s commands to put Him first.

...Thru the Bible - Minute with McGee Dr. J. Vernon McGee...

Put Him First

How wonderful it would be if Christians, not just on Sunday, but every day of the week, would put God first in everything that they do. God says, “I can’t bless you,” I don’t mean now materially, “unless you do that.” This is very practical, very real. We’re dealing with God now in reality. You can’t fudge with Him. You can’t put up a front with Him. My friend, you have to be real with Him. Are you putting Him first in your life? And if you are, God says, “I’ll bless you. But if you’re not, I won’t bless you.” Isn’t that reasonable? Isn’t that practical? Isn’t that workable, my beloved?

...Daily Promises...

And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to [them which were] not my people, Thou [art] my people; and they shall say, [Thou art] my God. (Hosea 2:23)

When once dead to all the things of life and love and godliness, the Lord, in His unfathomable mercy, wrested us from our bed of dust and ash and breathed His spirit of new life into us! We were not His people. We were not His children. We were, in spite of His holy righteousness, the very enemies of His hand. How gracious is He to have awakened His foemen to risen life as His own servants! We are His people! We are His children! Rejoice, O believer! Rejoice in your Lord of mercy and kindness.

...Trusting in God’s plan...

And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’S anointed is before him. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. — 1 Samuel 16:6-7

His plan may not align perfect with our thoughts and ideas, but it always aligns perfectly with His will.

State power has its own limits defined by the fact that it is authority that reaches people from outside. State power cannot oversee and dictate the creative states of the soul and mind, the inner states of love, freedom and goodwill. The state cannot demand from its citizens faith, prayer, love, goodness and conviction. It cannot regulate scientific, religious and artistic creation. It should not intervene in moral, family and daily private life, and only when extremely necessary should it impinge on people's economic initiative and creativity.
