We didn't have anything when I went to bed around 11.
By 2 we had about an inch or maybe a bit more of powdery snow. Real PITA to clear until I got the bright idea to get the wide broom I use in the garage.
By 5 we had another 3 inches and it was starting to hail. Got that cleared off the back deck, cleared some potty areas in the yard for the dogs, and salted.
Got up around 9 and there was a crust of ice over everything but no more snow. Different sort of PITA to clear...
Now it's hovering around freezing and lightly raining.
Power still on. Starlink dish heater had trouble keeping up on automatic so I turned it on completely and we've been online since.
Debating on when to clear the driveway. Operating on the assumption that the snow will keep the ice off the driveway surface. I doubt anyone has been down our road and I suspect the paved roads are treacherous anyway so there's no real hurry. We're going to hunker down for a few days until WVDOT gets around to clearing the roads.
I have enough fuel for probably a week if we conserved. Plenty of food and we're on a well so water isn't a problem as long as I have power or gas for generator.
So glad I work from home. We're all basically on call for the weekend for emergencies but I'll be online bright and early Monday morning without having to risk driving.
Great update orange! Such a blessing that you can work from home. I read that baking soda is good to prevent ice like salt and thanks for the info about your Starlink Dish Heater.
We're in WV between Parkersburg and Charleston.
Forecast was 6-12 inches plus a coating of ice.
