I'm not just talking about for military purposes, I'm talking about for civilian purposes in order to have a stockpile so that our economy isn't vulnerable to market shocks like it is right now. a huge part of our problem with the deficit is that the government essentially throws money at problems trying to make them go away. so say for example we ever have a drought that affects our ability to grow feed; instead of saving our grain during the bumper years, instead of saving a portion of our physical goods that are produced so that we can redistribute it during a lean year, we simply the surplus and then pay a premium like retail prices in order to import grain when we have a deficit. The system doesn't work. every wise king every wise government in history has built their economy based off of real goods instead of money. money is just paper if you can't use it to buy bread. we need a strategic stockpile of our basic essential goods so that we're not floating our economy on money and promises. grain, steel, metals, petroleum, livestock eggs and seed, everything we need, The government should keep a stockpile of that it builds up during the good years so that it can make up the difference and control the price during the lean years so that we don't get these massive price shocks that were experiencing right now. what it's doing right now is essentially placing a massive amount of inflationary pressure on our economy by simply printing money and then trying to buy whatever we can't make. I'm honestly surprised that Trump hasn't pushed to create a strategic reserve of our critical goods that we can base our economy off of. if you rip the floor out then of course it's going to spiral.
