James Doohan, - Scotty from Star Trek -was a real WWII vet who landed at Juno Beach on D-Day. Survived the whole assault without a scratch.
Then that night, one of his own guys, a jumpy Canadian sentry, opened fire on him by mistake. Six rounds. Four in the leg, one bounced off a cigarette case in his chest pocket and saved his life, and one took off his right middle finger.
There's a real chance the last thing that finger ever did was go up at the idiot shooting at him.
“I’m giving her all she’s got, Captain!”
From Sarnia, Ontario. Same as Chris Hadfield, the Astronaut.
Niiice
He gave it all he had Captain!
There are some episodes of Star Trek where you can see it because they just could not get the right shot with it concealed.
Still, pretty bad ass.
James Arness of Gunsmoke was injured at Anzio, Italy during WWII. Shot in the right leg. That is why he had his distinctive walk.
That's a badass walk!
Wow. Never knew that, thanks for sharing. He was one of my favourite characters, where my love for engineering and tinkering came from I guess.
