I'm loosely making late plans to but not sure if I will. I found Spothero.com so thinking I'll reserve a parking spot, go down in the morning for the parade and see how the day goes and perhaps stay for fireworks.
For S&Gs I checked room rates, if they're available rates are well over $1500.
I know we got a few Anons in the area, figured some might make it in.
Not sure if I will though, I'm sure it's going to be hella crowded and hot.
Too hot, too expensive, and my #1 rule of survival is: AVOID CROWDS.
I'm allergic to huge crowds, walking long distances, standing around for hours, and spending 10X the usual rate for a room.
I will sit on my porch and watch the fireworks shot by other people. Some neighbors are Mexican and have had some killer fireworks in the past, even rivalling those of the nearest city.
It's going to be super hot on Saturday, so I won't be outside at all until the fireworks start. I might watch some live video on the computer.
I do wish I could go, but circumstances do not allow it at this time. If you can tolerate the crowds and heat (get yourself a personal misting fan and a cooling hat) I think it will be a great experience to be at this once in a lifetime celebration. Bring your own healthy food (do not stand in lines for terrible food trucks.) Bring plenty of water bottles. I hope to visit DC at some point in the future and see the cleaned up version and the garden of heroes .
Too many people, too much heat....TV and a/c.
Couldnt think of a worse way to celebrate our freedom than going to the most heavily surveilled federal police state in the country.
