Certainty of the kind re Trump winning (first time, but just as certain 2 terms) has only hit me once before in my life. 1999, Manchester Utd winning the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich, which would have given them The Treble (they'd won the FA, and Premier league cups already).
Now the thing about the UEFA cup was there was a lot of omens surrounding it. It was the anniversary of something connected with the Munich Air Disaster which killed the core of the 'Busby Babes' a group of exceptional footballers on their way home from reaching the Semi Finals of the UEFA cup that year. All the experts were certain they would have won if not for the tragedy, which helped build the legend of Man Utd. Anyway, 10 years after the crash they finally won it in 1968 but every year since then they failed. I was reading about a lot of spooky coincidences with the current set up and match, and I grew certain that THIS year (1999) they would finally do it again.
On the night, they played very defensively which is not their style at all, and Bayern Munich were playing a much better game. At final time, Bayern were leading 1-0 and then they went into injury time - think it was about 3 minutes.
All was lost, in fact the FIFA chairman fella was walking down the stands with the cup tied in Bayerns colours. Then Utd scored and now we were saved because we'd get 30 minutes extra time. Yay! But with about 30 secs on the clock they scored again and won the bloody thing outright!
I'd been curled up on the sofa when they went into extra time and were losing thinking this cannot be, the omens (lol I'm big on them), it CANNOT BE, I was so CERTAIN but I watched in disbelief as I thought they were indeed losing. Never forgot it because in those couple of minutes EVERYTHING changed and when I stood up and unlocked my clenched muscles I couldn't actually walk because I had such an adrenaline rush my legs were like noodles and I fell over. Hee, what a rush, but it taught me that things can still work out IF YOU DON'T GIVE UP. Those players didn't even when all looked lost.
I have that same certainty now in that Trump WILL win (the woo surrounding him, the prophecies saying 2 terms, the digits on /pol, my gut feeling).
I still have my moments of dark doomer doubt, but give myself a slap and read uplifting threads here and elsewhere to get me back on track.
Moral of this silly rambling story: IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT REALLY IS OVER!
