Cohesion is the most basic of tools in offense or defense....
An example of cohesion is sometimes explained as an allegory like for example this....
Four strangers although each individually brave will hesitate or even not try to take on an escaped wild animal, like a tiger perhaps.... whereas four comrades or friends who know each other but individually are less brave than the four strangers will be more willing and certainly hesitate less to take on that wild animal...
There are generally considered to be 4 levels of cohesion... in the context of warfare or military operations...
Horizontal - as say for troops and their formation, from battle partners or binomes to sections, platoons, companies etc
Vertical - as say for soldiers and officers in the chain of command, similar to when soldiers might say they would follow a certain rank above them anywhere, but basically it’s built on the troops trusting their NCO ‘s and then that trust going up through the ranks from officer to officer.
Organisational - as say the way troops are organised and regimented, this can be most obvious in uniforms, insignia, specialisation etc
Societal - as say the way those outside the military perceive those in the military, recognition as well forms a big part of this say like the way people perceive Special Forces, or Elite units etc... a lot of this perception by those outside the military may be influenced by daring deeds, or propaganda or educationally (indoctrination say) or politics or all of those...
Cohesion plays a very important factor for any defense or offense.... and we must all have that...
Unfortunately, as other forums have displayed, without cohesion there is no strength in mass and most certainly very low morale...!
