Try to remove yourself from the situation emotionally and look at it logically. If you had two candidates for office, one claims victory and the other one claims that there was cheating and that the system is withholding verification. The normal deadline for resolving the election is 3 days away. How would you solve this in a manner that is fair/right?

  1. declare candidate A victor and disregard any requests to verify the election
  2. declare candidate B the winner because A’s results can’t be verified.
  3. set up a provisional power structure with neither candidate, extend the deadline, and verify all results for both A and B in a public forum.

Personally option 3 seems the best option to avoid long term destruction of the nation. There would be an initial meltdown from some of candidate A’s supporters for not getting their way immediately, but you could lockdown the capital to minimize their destruction. The whole process I suspect would take until March/April, hence some 4 month assignments.

Edit: this would also be an opportune time to put the whole “system” on trial.
