"X Minus One" is one of the best, most intelligent science fiction shows ever written... 'was a radio show that aired between 1955 and 1958.

I listened to them all recently and recall an episode where a human and alien starship make first contact. The human crew are delighted but the human captain is devastated because he know he can never return to Earth and risk showing a possibly hostile and overpowered enemy the path back to the cradle of mankind.

After a month of the two starships remaining stationary and trying to learn each other's language, the alien ship asks, "What do we do now?".

The solution was beautiful.
