Sorry everyone here's a link to the word doc i typed up and you can see it more clearer.
Here’s a link to the interactive map I made using Open Source DC Data Okay so boiling down my research into “what’s important right now”. If we are “taking down” the cabal and they have been hiding with sovereignty of what the District of Columbia brings the Corporation. I thought to look exactly at what gives them power. Please view the map at boundarystones.org for reference here.
My question is two-part question:
1)How can the District of Columbia still have “power” when the starting point of its territory soverighty (Jones Point Lighthouse) is in the territory of Virginia; and not the District of Columbia (in the map above you can see where the “receded” line is drawn as DC territory)?
2)Upon reading the Executive Order (below) can one conclude that the destruction of a boundary stone (if it were destroyed in the riot) is destruction of a federal monument. The District of Columbia would be the responsible party for the damaged property. For the history of the careless upkeep of these stones over time can the Federal Government prosecute other crimes (like opening the floodgate) to other crimes in the DC area?
3)Other ideas? Discuss.
Here’s the highlights of the Boundary Stones:
1.The land was originally ceded to the federal government by Virginia and Maryland in 1790. After moving through various stages of federal and state approval, the Virginia portion was eventually returned in March 1847
2.Andrew Ellicott (the surveyor) said the Survey started at Jones Point (located in Alexandria, VA), to the West, then North, East and back South.
3.These “Boundary Stones” are America’s oldest monuments – which are protected under Executive Order #13933: Protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues and Combating Recent Criminal Violence.
4.The graphic above comes from BoundaryStones.org; in which boundary stone SE #4 (area circled on map in yellow). In 2015 there was a car accident that destroyed the stone; it sounds like the remnant is now in a museum; and a replica was erected in its place. On the bottom it says “as of mid-2020 the replica stone has been knocked over, and its fence has been destroyed in another traffic incident”.
a.Was this “Federal Monument” destroyed in the riots last year? I cant find any information verifying a traffic incident here at all. If so, I believe we are under purview of EO #13933. In addition from SE #4 currently missing; here’s some questions surrounding other stones with replacement. Here is the Section of> EO #13933 I found very interesting. View the EO Here. 5.Sec. 3. Enforcing Laws Prohibiting the Desecration of Public Monuments, the Vandalism of Government Property, and Recent Acts of Violence. (a) The Attorney General shall prioritize within the Department of Justice the investigation and prosecution of matters described in subsections 2(a), (b), and (c) of this order. The Attorney General shall take all appropriate enforcement action against individuals and organizations found to have violated Federal law through these investigations.
(b) The Attorney General shall, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, work with State and local law enforcement authorities and Federal agencies to ensure the Federal Government appropriately provides information and assistance to State and local law enforcement authorities in connection with their investigations or prosecutions for the desecration of monuments, memorials, and statues, regardless of whether such structures are situated on Federal property.
Questions around SE#8 says the following:
3101 Southern Avenue SE: along the gate in front of the parking lot, just south of the merger with Naylor Road (and not at the intersection of Naylor Road and Suitland Parkway, as some earlier sources state). This stone is a replica created in 2015 and placed in early 2016 about twenty yards southwest of its original location.
By the time of Woodward's visit more than a century ago, the original stone was "rounded, battered and chipped on every side" possibly because "soldiers used it as a target" during the Civil War. When a truck knocked the stone out of place in 1985, the manager of a nearby apartment building moved it into the building's boiler room for safekeeping. In 1991, the building manager gave the stone to the bicentennial resurveying team, who, in 2012, transferred the stone to the D.C. Office of the Surveyor, where it remains on display.
As of mid-2020, the replica stone has been knocked over, and its fence has been destroyed, in another traffic incident.
Questions around SW#2 says the following:
“7 Russell Road: east side of Russell Road just north of King Street. Despite what the inscription on the protective fence says, this is neither the original stone nor the original location. Baker and Woodward reported the original stone to be missing as of the late 1800s, and DAR records show that the current stone was placed at this location in 1920. The original stone was located about 0.35 northwest of this replacement. According to Woodward, the original "stone was evidently placed on the east side, and very close to, [King Street], on the eastern side of Shuter's Hill, in a subdivision" now called Rosemont.”
Questions around NE#1 says the following:
7847 Eastern Avenue, northwest of intersection with Georgia Avenue: bronze plaque in place of stone in the sidewalk in front of a shop. The stone was accidentally bulldozed and removed during the construction of the storefront in September 1952. A replica stone was created in 2015 but has not yet been placed. enter text
