Yes, you will face a period of existential dread but it will pass.
Otherwise, it's like learning to cliff dive but deciding to sit on the edge of the cliff, and delude yourself rather than face the dread of going through with that first dive.
Imagine if every soldier decided to stay on the boats rather than face the dread of storming the beach!
