I considered going with Griddy when I last picked a power provider, but instead went with the cheapest retail provider I could find at the time. Not that it mattered much for me, because my power was out. But, when wholesale prices skyrocket, you really need to turn stuff off or get hit with huge bills. Whoever got hit with this bill likely received notifications about the price. They had a choice. Turn stuff off or get hit with a huge bill.

Edit: With a retail power provider, your rate is set, no matter what wholesale prices do. Is it higher than wholesale, yes. Is it guaranteed, yes.
