I found it confusing and wondered why Biden would attack Iranian assets when he's trying to make a deal about nukes.

I came up with 2 possibilities.

1. Biden is in charge of military and is sending a message to Iran, comply with deal or else.

2. Biden is not in control and the military did this to scupper any deal. (It would be difficult for Biden to deny he gave the order)

Edit: Option 3. Biden mumbled "I want syrup on my pancakes" and they understood "Bomb Syrian positions".
