It’s like saying you’re a bully because using your critical thinking abilities, just because the real bully labels you. Then if the bully ‘ball’ is taken up, the bully gets you to ‘play’ his game. It proceeds to set up a polarized argument. Remember: racist, anti-?, supremacist, misogynist = bad vs. You are now a Denier, which also equals bad.

They call you a name that means you’re a persecutor and they are either the victim or the rescuer/champion of the oppressed. The goal is for you to go with their change in subject where you are immediately rendered powerless. It’s a trap. They took over control of the conversation. Best way to avoid the trap is to know it exists and, don’t go into it. Stay with your discussion points and watch what happens. It gives them no option but to go around the triangle, ultimately looking like they are having a tantrum. It isn’t pretty. When possible, they pull in others and they oppress you.
