IMHO, a string of coincidences indicating pattern recognition, like in the Jim Carrey movie "23" where he kept seeing that number obsessively everywhere he went.

Logical thinking: why would the number of people killed have to do with the age of the killer? Like he's thinking, "OK that was 20...and, I somehow KNOW the 20 are dead, and some aren't merely injured...so I need to kill exactly two more, and then STOP RIGHT THERE, cuz that'll be my AGE!!" Why? Nonsensical.

And why "from the END of the year"?? Arbitrary.

A person could always decide for some reason to kill on the 22nd at 22:33 (why not 22:22 to really make it look good? Don't ask!). But the 22nd wasn't 22 days from the end of the year, or the beginning. It's the arbitrary number 223, from the (again, arbitrarily chosen) end, and not the beginning. Meaningless contrivance.

Crisis drill two months earlier: so what? Why not one, or three? What if it had been? Then THAT number instead of two would have been presented as equally meaningful.
